Brayden (he/him) is a proud palawa (lairmarrener - Big River) and Zenadth Kes (Torres Strait Islander) man originating from lutruwita (Tasmania), living with his partner Brody of 14+ years in Melbourne for the past 12 years.
Brayden's journey in the LGBTIQA+ inclusion space begun when he initiated a student lead support group for LGBTIQA+ students during his time in secondary school in Hobart, which quickly grew into his involvement in state-wide LGBTIQA+ youth work with Outright Youth. He then had the opportunity to represent Tasmanian LGBTI youth at an LGBTI Health Conference in Sydney, where he reported his findings to Hobart City Council upon his return.
After moving to Melbourne, completing a Bachelors degree in Sport Psychology and co-majoring in Sociology, the next few years in retail built on his ability to connect, engage and lead people from all walks of life. This lead to his appointment in the Commonwealth Bank Future Distribution Leaders program where he was first exposed to the ever changing and developing world of workplace Diversity & Inclusion. Brayden was keen to get involved, and soon became co-state lead of CommBank's LGBTIQA+ staff network (Unity) for Victoria. Brayden's passion only grew in this role and soon he discovered that pursuing a career in Diversity & Inclusion was something he needed to explore more.
Brayden then joined ACON's Pride Inclusion Programs as a Relationship Manager for Pride in Diversity, supporting the Victorian Public Sector and Higher Education across Vic/SA in their LGBTIQA+ inclusion work. This involved supporting them to achieve varying levels of success in the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI), delivering LGBTIQA+ Awareness and Allyship training for staff and providing support for employees affirming their gender at work.
After developing many strong relationships with his clients, Brayden wished to expand on his Diversity & Inclusion knowledge by joining VicRoads & Department of Transport as a Senior Inclusion & Diversity Consultant. Brayden managed the LGBTIQA+ portfolio, contributed to the Accessibility & Inclusion Action Plan (People with Disability), supported all Employee Resource Groups (ERG's) and assisted in the Diversity & Inclusion reporting restructure during a machination of government.
Fast forward to 2020 when the world changed for many, Brayden created B Crane Consulting to not only continue to pursue his passion for creating safe and inclusive spaces for LGBTIQA+ people, but also to pursue his passion for Community and Aged Care work (gaining experience in the local government, retirement living and residential aged care sectors).
Since the creation of B Crane Consulting, we have had the pleasure of working with the Department of Transport (Vic), Worksafe Victoria, Transport Accident Commission Victoria (TAC), Department of Defence (Fed.), Australian Nurses and Midwifery Federation Vic Branch and more!
Brayden also took on a permanent position in 2022 until late 2023 working at Kingston City Council, coordinating their Rainbow Tick Accreditation project and getting them Rainbow Tick Assessment ready for early 2024.
Today, he continues to run B Crane Consulting, while working at a consulting firm, coordinating a large scale leadership development program for a high profile federal government department.
At B Crane Consulting, we have expertise in all things LGBTIQA+ Workplace Inclusion. We have experience with both supporting clients with and marking AWEI Benchmarking (LGBTIQA+ Workplace Inclusion Benchmarking), facilitating workshops in LGBTIQA+ Awareness and Allyship, supporting workplaces and employees with Gender Affirmation, LGBTIQA+ inclusive Policy Review and Development (including Action Plan Development), work associated with Rainbow Tick Accreditation and more!
B Crane Consulting is run by Brayden himself, however each new engagement with a client feels like being part of many teams. We take pride in our ability to develop strong and genuine relationships with clients to ensure they get not only a great experience, but have complete trust and confidence in the work we achieve together.
We believe that to achieve success in anything, there are many moving parts that need to be considered to ensure solutions are long lasting and meaningful. We work closely with our clients and listen deeply to their needs and their intended outcomes. We are all about shaping things together and strong collaboration. For the work to resonate with the people impacted, organisational context paired with lived experience of your people is essential. There is no "one size fit's all", so let's work together to achieve best results.
